The "Armenian Works" for violin and piano is a collection of small, but artistically rich pieces. The five works on the first half of the album are by Komitas, an Armenian priest, musicologist, composer, singer, choir conductor, and champion of modern Armenian music. All of the pieces have a lyrical atmosphere, but the "Crane" is the strongest symbol of the Armenian hymn. Other works include music from Khachaturian's "Gaïne" and "Spartacus," "Dance in B flat major," which became his opus number 1, the colorful "Scherzo" by Abramyan, who studied composition at Armenian cultural institutions in Tbilisi and Moscow and devoted himself to the study of Armenian folk music, and the "Piano Concerto," a piece by the contemporary Armenian The program introduces works by outstanding Armenian composers, including the beautiful "Nocturne" by Baghdasaryan, who made a great contribution to the development of music in modern Armenia, and was named a Person of Artistic Merit (honorary artist) in 1963. The nostalgic melodies, which are similar to those of Asian folk songs, evoke nostalgic feelings in the listener. Naxos Japan
