Eleven-year-old Prokofiev received private composition instruction from Raingorit Glière. But it was Glière's violin playing that captivated the young Prokofiev. A decade later, in 1916, he composed his Violin Concerto No. 1. The Violin Concerto No. 2, composed in 1935, is a beautiful piece, gentle but with occasional glimpses of understated passion. The third movement has a Spanish inspiration, and the castanets play an active role. The Sonata for Unaccompanied Violin was written for "talented children playing in unison. Of course, it can also be played alone. From Sarasate and Ysaye to Rihm, Tianwa Yang has outstanding technique and a wide repertoire. In this Prokofiev, she brought out the full appeal of the work by further deepening the musicality and using beautiful sound from weak to strong notes. The Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Merkle, also complemented her with a seamless performance. Tianwa Yang was born in Beijing.She began studying violin at the age of four and quickly showed her talent, receiving instruction from Lin Yaoqi at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing at the age of ten, recording Paganini's 24 Caprices at the age of 13, and relocating there in 2003 when she received a scholarship to study in Germany. He has appeared with orchestras in England, Germany, France, and other European countries, as well as in North America, Oceania, and Asia, and has performed recitals and chamber music at the Lucerne Festival, Rheingau Festival, Ravinia Festival, Wigmore Hall, Salle Pleyel, and Lincoln Center, among others. label, and in 2014 received the German Record Critics Award for her recordings of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and Sarasate's Violin Music; in 2015 she was named ECHO Classicist of the Year for her recording of Ysaye's Unaccompanied Violin Sonatas; and in 2015 she was named ECHO Classical Award for Instrumentalist of the Year for her recording of the Ysaye Unaccompanied Violin Sonatas.
