Aubert's opera "The Water Nymph" premiered at the Opéra-Comique in Paris on March 26, 1844, and was an immediate success. Aubert's opera "The Water Nymph" continued to be performed in Germany and other regions, and by 1887 it was so popular that it had been performed 164 times (including 17 performances at the Théâtre Lyrique in 1865-66), and Adan even wrote a "potpourri" based on its melody, which was highly praised by the poet Heine. The script was produced by Scribe, who worked with Aubert for many years. Together, he and Aubert created a total of 38 works. The story of Borboya, an Italian opera house manager who hears a rumor that "a wonderful singing voice can be heard in the mountains," Zerlina, the owner of the singing voice, Scoppet, an adventurer (smuggler), and Scipion, a young sailor...enjoy this story full of love and fantasy woven by these characters.
