Following Mozart's "Requiem" (8.557728), this recording is conducted by Schulte-Jensen, who was trained by Celibidacke and Ericsson. The chamber orchestra, made up of members of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, refreshes the work with classical playing on modern instruments, creating very stylish music. It is a standard performance. Vivaldi was not the only composer to write the world-famous "Four Seasons. Haydn's oratorio "The Four Seasons," composed shortly after "The Creation," features three solo singers playing peasants who sing of the joys, pains, and trials of country life throughout the year, ending with a chorus of villagers. The music is authentic, powerful, joyful, and life-affirming in its diversity of content: summer storms, hunting episodes, dawns, hanging winter mists, and peasant dances.It is backed by a deep and sincere faith, and Haydn's genius is on full display.
