The sound of piety resounding in a historic church ~ the best masterpieces of Cluytens The ultimate in chic and elegance ~ Cluytens, the embodiment of French music André Cluytens (1905-1967) was born in Antwerp, Belgium, but through his extensive performing and recording activities in France, he is known as one of the leading interpreters of French music of the 20th century. Immediately after World War II, he and Munsch worked together to revive the French music world, becoming conductor of the Paris Opera, music director of the Opéra-Comique in Paris, and in 1949, he succeeded Munsch, who moved to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as principal conductor of the Orchestre de la Musique de Paris, where his elegant, refined, and chic performances became popular. His success with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on a tour of the United States in 1955 brought him international attention, and in 1958 he was invited to the Bayreuth Festival, where he became a world-class conductor. For Japanese music fans, his tour of Japan with the Orchestre de la Musique de Paris in April and May of 1964 was particularly impressive, and it was at this time that they first came into contact with the essence and sophistication of French music. The ancient sound of the Orchestre de la Conservatoire de Paris left on recordings After the war, Cluytens began recording mainly complete operas for EMI (Pathé) in France, and also recorded with the Orchestre National de Radio France, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Philharmonia Orchestra in a wide range of repertoire, but above all, a series of stereo recordings with the Orchestre de la Conservatoire de Paris, a hand-powered orchestra. The Orchestre de la Conservatoire de Paris was disbanded in 1967 with the unexpected death of Cluytens, and was replaced by the Orchestre de Paris with a more modern sound and identity. This recording of Fauré's "Requiem," made in 1962, is the most highly acclaimed of the series of recordings, and since its release in 1963, it has remained a classic performance that has never disappeared from the catalog. Especially for Japanese music fans who love Fauré's "Requiem", it is regarded as one of the best masterpieces of "Requiem" along with ERATO's Corvo disc (recorded in 1972), which was also released in our Super Audio CD Hybrid Series in 2011 (ESSE-90055). The "Requiem" was released on our Super Audio CD Hybrid Series in 2011 (ESSE-90055). Now available on analog vinyl in the best condition imaginable. This is the second recording of Fauré's Requiem, following the monaural recording made in October 1950 with the Orchestre National de Radio France, and while the 1950 recording is known as a masterful performance that brought out the charm of Fauré's modest work, this 1962 recording is even more impressive than the old recording. The two soloists are also magnificent: the purity of Los Angeles in "Pied Jesu" and the flawless singing of F. Dieskau, who shows the brilliance of his peak years. Both are colorful and worthy of being included in this historic masterpiece. Old fans will also miss the fact that Henriette Puig-Roger, who had close ties to Japan as a pedagogue, plays the organ, and the recording was made not at Salle Wagram, where EMI often made orchestral recordings in Paris, but at the historic St. Roch church, completed in 1754, north of the Tuileries Park in the 1st district of Paris. The recording venue was the historic St. Roch's Church, completed in 1754, north of the Tuileries Park in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, rather than Salle Wagram, where EMI's Paris orchestral recordings are often made, and the richness and depth of the sound are enhanced, while the exquisite orchestration and the beauty of the choral harmony are not buried by the church reverberations, resulting in a masterful recording. This is the first domestic release of this recording on analog vinyl in 43 years, since 1981. The original master was newly mastered exclusively for analog records at "Esoteric Mastering". The master was carefully tuned using ESOTERIC's top-of-the-line Master Sound Discrete DAC, Master Sound Discrete Clock, and MEXCEL cables, and was created with the aim of achieving the highest sound quality possible. For analog cutting, Mixer's Lab used a Neumann VMS80 cutting race, a famous machine from the heyday of analog. This machine was manufactured in West Germany, and currently only two units are in operation in Japan. With the cooperation of Mixer's Lab, we brought the "Esoteric Mastering" equipment into the cutting room and connected the output directly to the Neumann SP79C cutting console. The output is directly connected to a Neumann SP79C cutting console. The Esoteric Mastering sound is sent directly to the cutting process without using the console's equalizer. Cutting is performed by Mr. Katsutoshi Kitamura, a cutting engineer at Mixer's Lab. He put his mastering skills into the mastering process. Nowadays, master discs are only cut for record pressings, and it is rare for a lacquer disc to be cut just for listening purposes. The lacquer discs were then brought back to the ESOTERIC Mastering Center, where they were auditioned and checked for sound quality on ESOTERIC's Grandioso T1 analog turntable to determine the optimal transmission method. The information contained in the original masters was successfully analogized with a smooth sound.
