Description:

Historic Springsteen recordings & live performances from 16-18 years old! Discovered live from his time with The Castiles! Bruce Springsteen formed The Castiles as a student in his hometown of New Jersey. The Castiles started playing at parties and eventually started appearing at local clubs. This album is a collection of B. Springsteen's early recordings from that period. The first one is when he was 16 years old. He met singer and guitarist George Theis and together they began writing songs and lyrics. Then, on May 18, 1966, they made their first recording as The Castiels at a local Mr. Music studio. Only one song, "Baby's Eye," was released in 2016 along with BOSS's first autobiography, mastered by Bob Ruddick, but all two songs are included here in their original form. All two songs here are from the original recordings. Like John and Paul of the Beatles, Bruce and G. Theis share vocals on "Baby's Eye. The Byrds-like 12-string guitar sound of "That's What You Get" is reminiscent of the rock and roll songs on the later "River" album. A year later. A year later, the band played across the state at New York's venerable "Café What? They played at the old New York club "Café What's Up? The album also includes two shows (three stages) in September 1967 at a local club called "Left Foot". The music world was in a period of rapid change during this year, and the music selection changed from the Beatles and Byrds fads to a more psychedelic era. Bruce sings on Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Smoke" and "Fire" while playing guitar like Jimi Hendrix, and Paul Butterfield, Sam & Dave, and other austere cover songs are probably Bruce's favorites. His partner, G. Theis, sings "The Kinks," "The Animals," and a psychedelic arrangement of "Elinor Rigby" by The Beatles. Some of the selections are typical of high school students, such as Zafu's "My Generation," which launches into Howling Noise, and a cover of Moby Grape's "Omaha" is reminiscent of the E Street Band in a Detroit Rock style. After Bruce's rendition of Leonard Cohen's signature song "Suzanne," the girls watch. Mr. Jones," written by organist Bob Alfano, and "Look Into My Window," a fantastic collaboration between Bruce and Theis, are especially valuable, as they seem to have been performed only once before. The sound quality of the masters, recorded by amateurs, is not great, but we are grateful that they have been preserved in this way. This is a rare live performance at the very starting point of a passionate talent's run toward "the future of rock 'n' roll. Detailed liner notes in Japanese, 5,300 characters, including the situation of the time, episodes, song titles, etc. Jacket with licensed photos by Getty Images Japan.
