The dazzling set design by Julia Trevelyan Orman is another highlight. From a Christmas party that feels like peering into a 19th-century German toy chest to a dreamlike Land of Sweets, a world unfolds that seems to have leapt right out of a picture book. The highlight of Act II—the Pas de deux of the Sugar Plum Fairy—features Mayara Magri and Rhys Clark, who were promoted to Principal in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Their dazzling performance is a must-see. Also keep an eye out for the talented James Hay, who is taking on the role of Drosselmeyer for the first time. Up-and-coming Ukrainian dancer Marianna Ziebenhoi portrays a fresh take on Clara, combining single-minded devotion with inner strength.
