Description:
This is the DACAPO debut album by Daniel Bjarnason, the most popular composer and conductor in Iceland today. All pieces are world premiere recordings. As in the title "From the Earth to the Ether," all the pieces seem to disappear into the air at the end. The "From Bow to Strings," which begins with an impressive passacaglia with a beat, "Over Light Earth," in which trembling sounds slowly spread to every corner of the orchestra and create a loud sound, and "Larkin's Song," with its theme of friendship and love and a melody reminiscent of Mahler's "Song of the Earth," though atonal, are ear-catching.
