This is an album by Armenian pianist Raffi Besaryan, who has visited Japan many times and was acclaimed by "Chopin" magazine as "an authentic heir to the Russian pianism of Horowitz and others. The album features works by Khachaturian, a representative of his native country, and his favorite American composer, Gershwin, along with the world premiere recording of "Sonatine" by Oscar Levant, who is known for his appearances in Hollywood movies, and the arrangement of a Gershwin work by the famous pianist Earl Wild. The selection of pieces, which includes a superb technical exercise arranged by the famous pianist Earl Wilde, is a perfect demonstration of the current Besaryan's abilities. Raffi Besaryan] After studying at the "Tchaikovsky Music School for Specially Gifted Children" in Yerevan, Raffi Besaryan received his doctorate from Komitas College of Music. He then studied with Byron Janis at Rowan University and the Manhattan School of Music in New York. After receiving his degree, he studied at the Moscow State Conservatory of Music under Alexei Nasedkin, Victor Merzianov, and Naum Shtarkman.He has won many competitions, including the Josef Hoffman International Competition, the Flinna Arborback International Competition, the New York Artists International Competition, and the MTNA National Competition. He has been a professor of music at Rowan University in New Jersey and at Wisconsin State University, and currently teaches younger students at Georgia State University, Atlanta, School of Music.
