Once nearly forgotten, Korngold's music has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity since the 1990s and has gained unwavering popularity over the past 30 years. From his youthful works that marked the end of the late Romantic period to his mature works that laid the foundation for Hollywood's film music, many of his works are now widely performed and his beautiful music is widely loved. This 4-CD set reissues a series of recordings made by German conductor Kaspar Richter with the Linz Bruckner Orchestra for the ASV label in the 1990s and early 2000s. Born in 1944, Kaspar Richter has made outstanding achievements in the genres of modern and contemporary music and opera, including founding the Hamburg Chamber Opera to perform contemporary music while a student at the Hamburg University of Music. He is especially fond of Korngold's works, and these performances are among the forerunners of the "Korngold Renaissance. These are valuable performances that include much rarely heard repertoire.
