Boston Baroque has led the American revival of classical music since its founding in 1973 under the musical direction of Martin Perlman, Monteverdi, one of the most famous works synonymous with Perlman & Boston Baroque! Monteverdi's opera "The Return of Ulysses" was composed based on Homer's epic poem "The Odyssey". Premiered at the Teatro San Cassiano in Venice some 350 years ago, "The Return of Ulisse" is one of Monteverdi's three greatest surviving operas and is considered one of the major works of his later years. The Boston Baroque and the young singers of today's brightest stars will perform "The Return of Ulisse" in Martin Perlman's "revised" version.
