Description:

Mitsume’s Sō Kawabe releases the LP version of his first solo album, *Missing*. Following its digital release in July, the songs—which have been performed at a release party at Ebisu KATA and at live shows across the country—are being released on LP to wrap up 2026. *Missing* marks Kawabe’s first recording project with a full band lineup, having previously released home-recorded works intermittently alongside his band activities. Drawing on ideas gained from his involvement in other artists’ projects as a producer and musician, he explores a new production method that lies somewhere between studio recording and self-recording. This album captures, almost like a documentary, the first step in Kawabe’s experimental journey to bring music production back into his own hands after extensive experience with studio recording. It features a total of nine tracks, including the lead singles “Alien’s Love” and “Curved Mirror.” Memories shared with others, cityscapes, the stillness of the late night. The songs on *Missing* quietly depict emotions that gradually shift over time and those fleeting moments in daily life when we suddenly pause. “Alien’s Love,” with its swaying delayed guitar riffs and alluring vocals; “Curved Mirror,” which reflects cityscapes with its light melody; “Running Away at Night,” filled with a sense of floating as it takes on the atmosphere of the night; and “Why,” featuring memorable overlapping harmonies. Each song reflects the distance between people, ambiguous emotions, the exhilaration of the night, and loneliness, while revealing slightly different facets of these themes. “Sweet Fruit,” which closes the album, is also a track that symbolizes the work as a whole. This song, which likens relationships and the passage of time to fruit, follows “Late-Night Program”—a track that seems to drift between the boundaries of dreams and reality in the dead of night—and quietly brings the entire album to a close. It rolls along, fragile and ambiguous. That sensation runs throughout this album. Sonically, the album builds its world around Kawabe’s own vocals, while subtly weaving delicate arrangements into a minimalist soundscape. Her soft, soaring falsetto, overlapping harmonies, and arrangements that make full use of negative space breathe with the freedom unique to a solo work, where she handles everything from writing lyrics and composing to arranging and directing the entire project herself. Satoshi Isobe (Tocago) and Yusuke Okada (BROTHERSUNSISTERMOON) participated in the recording. Toshihiko Kasai handled the mixing, and Kentaro Kimura handled the mastering.
