Kate NV, the solo project of Moscow, Russia-based eclectic experimental pop artist Kate Shilonosova, returns with her long-awaited new release "Room for the Moon" on RVNG Intl. Room for the Moon" is the third album in total, and the first since the release of "для FOR" in 2018. The album is a perfect balance of the pop sensibility of "BINASU" (released on Orange Milk Records) and the ambient, minimal, and new age influences of "для FOR" (released on RVNG). The album opens with "Not Not Not," a pastoral minimal "Du Na," based on synths, mallets, and marimba, which was critically acclaimed by Pitchfork as one of the best new tracks, and "Sayonara," which was named one of Kate's best new tracks by the Pitchfork label. Sayonara," a synth-pop track that rushes up and down with edgy guitars, tapping drums, and a vocal leap that has drawn comparisons to Kate Bush, is a masterpiece of synth-pop.The lyrics are also a mix of English, Japanese, and Russian. The experimental yet fun "Ca Commence Par" with French lyrics, "Plans," a saxophone solo created using only samples from Sound Sound Nation's "Broken Orchestra" sample pack, "Tea," borrowing a melody from Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, and "Telefon," an up-tempo pop song that seems to invite you to a party. The album is rich in variety, backed by a rich experimental spirit and pop sensibility, including "Tea," which borrows a melody from Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, and "Telefon," an up-tempo pop song that seems to invite you to a party.
