The founder of Canterbury music, this is a masterpiece from the transitional period from psychedelic pop to jazz rock! Soft Machine, a British progressive jazz-rock band known as the group that laid the foundation of Canterbury music, made its album debut in 1968 with Kevin Ayers, Robert Wyatt, and Mike Rutledge. Ayers left the band shortly after its release, and was replaced by Hugh Hopper, who joined the band as bassist, and the band produced and released "Volume Two" in 1969. With Ayers' departure, Rutledge & Hopper's avant-garde and lithic jazz-rock orientation strengthened, while Wyatt's later solo album, Innocent Song World, blossomed in a perfect balance, making this album a thrilling experience that can only be experienced with this album. Bonus tracks include "Love Makes Sweet Music" and "Feelin Reelin Squeelin," which were released as debut singles in 1967. Includes obi commentary. Commentary: Hideki Goto
