Description:

A new concept from Old Days Records! Enjoy your CDs in 7-inch vinyl-style sleeves! Whether you display the artwork flat or in a frame, or store them neatly, this nostalgic yet innovative packaging—packed with CDs and liner notes in the size of a vintage 7-inch single—is sure to appeal to collectors. Beloved as the “Gods of Electric Guitar” and having driven countless young guitarists wild, The Ventures. This is a miraculous combination of their historic 1960 debut album and Vol. 2 from 1964, which marked their evolution into the surf sound. Experience the origin and pinnacle of that “Teke-Teke” sound with your own ears right now! In the 1960s, when The Beatles were taking the world by storm, there was a band in Japan that sold twice as many records as they did and sparked an explosive “electric guitar boom.” As you know, it was The Ventures. This release is a super-value set that combines their revolutionary 1960 debut album *Walk, Don’t Run*, which rewrote the history of instrumental rock, with their 1964 album *Vol. 2*, which introduced a surf-style sound to rival the British Invasion. The style of racing through “Walk, Don’t Run”—originally composed by jazz guitarist Johnny Smith—over a simple four-beat rock rhythm was nothing short of an invention. Just comparing the crystal-clear clean tone of the 1960 version with the driving energy of the 1964 version is enough to give you goosebumps. Without vocals, they transcended the "language barrier" and captivated the world with the magic of their guitar tones alone. This single album holds the answer to why the youth of that era were so captivated by the electric guitar! Notes: All Days Editorial Department
