It is a "miracle" that such a profound, lengthy, and rich piano sonata was created in this day and age, but the performance of this masterpiece, in which Hirano put his whole heart and soul into it, was also a miracle. The performance of this masterpiece is also a miracle, a magnificent 46-minute drama that will take your breath away and leave you wondering how such a thing could happen. The first half of the program, Chopin: Ballades (4 pieces), is also a masterful performance and well worth listening to. (Instrument used: 1922 NY Steinway).
