The long-awaited revival release of Medjieva's 2002 recording, which marked a memorable step in her career. Now, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of her concert debut in Japan, Wakabayashi Kobo is re-releasing this memorable masterpiece (her first recording at the Shinkawa Bunka Hall in Uozu), which has made her one of Japan's leading recording artists. The repertoire on this disc is synonymous with Medjieva's music. The G minor Sonata, op. 22, is one of Metonel's most famous sonatas, and was a favorite of Guilleris, Horowitz, Grinberg, and others. Forgotten Chimes, op. 40, is the latter part of a series of three works with the same title, a collection of six dances. The "Pastoral Sonata," the last piano sonata by Metonel, is a fine work with an appealingly simple style. Medjieva's performance, full of youthful freshness and rich songfulness, yet with a certain calmness and spiritual depth, has won high acclaim in various fields, including a "Record Geijutsu Special Recognition" award. For this release, the album has been re-mastered and the jacket design has been redesigned.This is the long-awaited revival release of the 2002 recording that marked a memorable step for the young Medjieva.
