May 27, 1947, the third day of Furtwängler's return to the Berlin Philharmonic. Fate" and "Egmont" are restored with authentic recordings from the archives of the Deutsches Rundfunk Archiv (DRA)! Furtwängler won the victory in the de-Nazification trial and returned to the music world in earnest in 1947. This is the third day of his reunion concert with the Berlin Philharmonic. The first day's concert has long been popularized by Cetra, and an authorized version is available from Audite. The third day's concert was released by DG and ETERNA and is highly acclaimed as a masterpiece. The sound quality was considered to be excellent at that time, but it sounded a little bit muddy. This reissue from the original DRA source brings back to life with a vividness and power as if a cloudy glass had been wiped clean. The applause after both "Fate" and "Egmont" was cut (the audience was obviously present), and the ending was a bit abrupt, but this is as in the original recording and has not been corrected. The performance was held at Titania Palast for a long time, but later some sources claim that the concert was held at Studio 1 of the Berlin Radio (the concert hall of the broadcasting company in Masuralle, which later became East Berlin and is well known for live recordings by Regner).This time it is described as a performance in Titania Palast according to DRA records.
