Tower Records x Sony Classical Ultimate SA-CD Hybrid Collection 11th release commemorating the 110th anniversary of the birth of the famous conductor Raphael Kubelík. The nine LPs recorded by Kubelík for the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and CBS during the three seasons from 1978 to 1980 are all masterpieces that mark the depth of the master conductor's art at the peak of his maturity. Bruckner's Symphonies No. 4 "Romantic" and No. 3, recorded in November 1979 and October 1980, respectively, marked the beginning of a project to record Bruckner's major symphonies with this duo. Although this project was never realized, the two remaining recordings, while meticulous in their attention to detail, are truly grandiose in spirit and communion with nature, as one would expect from a master musician's skill. The third piece is based on Eser's second draft, published in 1950, which is rare today, and the fourth piece is based on the popular Novak's 1878/80 draft. Wagner's sound source was the fill-up for Bruckner No. 4 at the time of its LP release.The earliest digital recordings were made in sessions at Munich's Herkulessaal, which boasted one of the best acoustics in Europe, in collaboration with CBS (David Mottley) and the Bavarian Broadcasting Company (Friedrich Werz), and were released on the 110th anniversary of Kubelik's birth in the original 2 New DSD remastering from the original 2-track digital source. [The series concept] Sony Classical and RCA Red Seal's historical masterpieces will be physically reissued in the "ultimate" form as a hybrid disc in collaboration with Tower Records, pursuing the highest quality, including previous remastering. The SA-CD hybrids are newly reissued for this release by experienced mastering engineers such as Andreas K. Meyer, who has been working on the reissue of the original masters from Sony Classical's treasured collection.The series aims to vividly revive the glory that each masterpiece has borne in the modern era by using the acclaimed "Ondesho Label" to reproduce the original sound quality of the masters and by including highly documented liner notes in the commentary.
