A collection of live studio recordings made by Memphis Slim, one of the greatest blues pianists of all time, in London and Paris in 1960 and 1961. Disc 1 features 18 tracks recorded at the City of London Recording Studios in July 1960, backed by Alexis Connor on guitar and Stan Graig on drums, and Disc 2 features 14 mostly solo piano sessions at a Paris studio in July 1961. featuring. The two-disc set offers powerful and brilliant vocals and piano by Slim, who has since chosen to live permanently in Paris. Memphis Slim, a blues pianist born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1915, began his career in the 1930s and moved to Chicago in 1939, where he teamed up with Big Bill Broonzy. In the late 40's, he led the house rockers to hit records such as "Messin' Around" on the Miracle label.In 1949, he released "Nobody Loves Me," later known as "Everyday I Have a Blues," and in the 1950s he released consistently on labels such as Chess and United. In the 1960s, he toured frequently in Europe, including at the American Folk Festival, and finally settled in Paris in 1962. He died in Paris in 1988.
