Description:
Singapore's KITCHEN. LABEL releases a new album by Tokyo-based sound artist Hiroshi Ebina. Following KITCHEN. LABEL's debut album "In Science and the Human Heart" (2022), this new album is a lullaby for the sleepless that leads to healing the silence and loneliness of the urban night. This is a work created specifically for the quiet hours of the night, delving deeper into Hiroshi Ebina's characteristic serene and floating analog soundscapes. Ebina began this project as an attempt to create a sonic cure for her partner's insomnia, but as the recording process progressed, it evolved into a complex work that explores the mysterious and sacred nature of night. The album's narrative unfolds through nine carefully constructed tracks, each of which invites the listener into the depths of the night. A variety of instruments, from the rustic sounds of music boxes and water-filled wine glasses to cutting-edge technology such as Eurorack synthesizers and algorithmic sequencers, are used on each track, two or three at most, to create hypnotic soundscapes that are delicate and transparent. Beginning with a bright, high frequency synthesizer that evokes dusk with flickering city lights, the sound gradually transitions to mid-range tones that gently lead the listener into a dream world. This descent of sound mirrors the way we surrender ourselves to sleep night after night. It is a special experience, similar to a common yet temporary death, where consciousness fades and dreams emerge from the depths of the subconscious. This work gently envelops the listener, and as a soothing presence in the silence and loneliness of the urban night, it offers peace and calm to those who awaken in the darkness. Artwork was created by Tokyo-based photographer Yoichi Onoda, and mastered by Joseph Branciforte (Greyfade Studio) in New York. Source: Provided by the seller/distributor (2024/08/07)
