Description:
Inoyama Land and Passepartout Duo have collaborated to create a new work! This work, "Radio Yugawara," was recorded in 2023 in Yugawara, the hometown of Makoto Inoue of Inoyama Land. When the Passepartout Duo arrived, a circle of four tables was set up in the hall. The tables were carefully arranged with children's instruments such as handbells, glockenspiels, xylophones, recorders, melodica, and harmonica. Around the table were shelves from which hung various bells and wind chimes, and in this environment each performer set up his or her electronic instrument. Time was divided into three sessions, producing over three hours of sound material: (1) "electronic instruments only," "acoustic only," and "a mix of both," (2) "four different duets," in which members of the "duo" took turns playing with each other, and (3) "free performance with no restrictions.The highly anticipated opener "Strange Clouds" depicts a lush landscape created with a synthesizer bed and a chromaplane (a handmade analog instrument designed by the Passepartout duo that features a touchless interface and endless organic sounds). The sound underlies the album's 11 tracks. The album is both a statement from a place and an expression of harmony with its surroundings. The music of these ephemeral moments is less about active creation and more about discovering something that is already there."
