--The river flows ceaselessly, yet its waters are never the same-- Morton Feldman (1926–87), a leading figure in the American experimental music scene who formed close ties with New York avant-garde artists such as Cage, Pollock, and Rothko and exerted a profound influence on art in the latter half of the 20th century, composed this legendary piano piece two years before his death—now available in a long-awaited Japanese release. Spread out within an eternal expanse of time devoid of defined boundaries, these infinitesimally small repetitions undergo constant, subtle shifts, eventually transforming the very nature of human auditory perception. What will you hear in these 76 minutes of meticulously woven, incomparably beautiful tranquility? Satoko Inoue (Pianist) Graduated from the Graduate School of Composition at Tokyo Gakugei University. After performing as a member of the “Musica Practica Ensemble” from 1986 to 1991, she began her solo career in 1991. She holds regular annual recitals in Tokyo and has performed works by Toru Takemitsu, Yuzuru Kondo, Yorenori Matsudaira, and Yoriaki Matsudaira, as well as works by Morton Feldman, John Cage, Luciano Berio, Luc Ferrari, and Doina Rotaru—including world premieres and Japanese premieres—totaling over 150 pieces. Abroad, she has given solo recitals and lecture-concerts at universities throughout the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Romania, Turkey, Egypt, and Argentina. She has also been invited to international arts festivals such as the “Bourges Experimental Music Festival” (France) and the “Darmstadt Summer Music Seminar” (Germany), among other international arts festivals. He was also invited to the “8th Meridian ISCM-Romanian Section International Festival” (Bucharest), the “Festival ‘l’Art pour l’Aar’” (Bern), the “9th Mersin Muzik Festivali” (Mersin), and the “16th Ciclo de Conciertos de Música Contemporánea” (Buenos Aires). To date, she has released a total of four solo albums on the Swiss label HatHut and the German label Edition Hundertmark. She received the 10th Keizo Saji Award (Suntory Arts Foundation) for her solo album “Satoko Inoue Piano Recital #19: Works by Morton Feldman.” She is currently an associate professor at the Kunitachi College of Music.
