Bach’s unaccompanied violin sonatas and partitas are truly the “Bible” for violinists. These works have long been established as the most important repertoire in Takumi Kubota’s performing career. For this recording, Kubota has respected the original scores and poured all of his accumulated performance experience into the complete set of unaccompanied violin sonatas. Captured here are the melodies born from her beloved “Guarneri,” characterized by a solid, sculptural beauty—a monologue by Takumi Kubota and a dialogue with J.S. Bach. Her astonishing concentration is truly spine-tingling, and even through the CD, Kubota’s devotion to Bach radiates as an aura.
