Since their album debut in 1971, the duo, consisting of brothers Ron and Russell Mair, has consistently created a sound world that is recognizable as Sparks, while incorporating the pop music of each era into their own, from glam to power pop, electro to dance pop, and even chamber pop. The band continues to be active as a pop innovator, and their works from the 2000s, which have a strong experimental spirit in their long musical career, will be reissued one after another.Sparks' first "radio musical" album, THE SEDUCTION OF INGMAR BERGMAN, was released in 2009 and is his 22nd studio album. The album, based on a fictional story of Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman's journey to Hollywood in the mid-1950s, was created at the request of a Swedish radio station. As the soundtrack to a radio musical, the album has a style reminiscent of pop opera and should be listened to as a whole rather than as a collection of stand-alone songs. This album was highly acclaimed by the media for its dramatic concept and new musical experimentation in the form of a "radio musical. Sparks would later go on to write the original idea and music for the musical film "Annette," directed by the brilliant Leos Carax and starring Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard, and others. This album may be the starting point of this project.
