The SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden & Freiburg led by François-Xavier Lotto will perform "Till," "Don Quixote," and "Macbeth," the second in a series of Richard Strauss symphonic poems led by Lotto. In the 2012/2013 season, the duo continues to focus on Strauss in performances, and the recording of "Death and Purification" coincides with their previous work, "Macbeth", which was recorded at the same time as "Death and Purification". The "Till" was session-recorded before and after the performance in Freiburg on June 24, 2012, which coincides with the previous "Death and Purification".Don Quixote" was recorded live in Mannheim on December 20, 2012 and in Freiburg on December 21, 2012, and "Macbeth" was recorded in Freiburg in March 2013. In addition to the high level of perfection of the two works recorded during the session, "Don Quixote," which features two of the orchestra's principal players as soloists, was also recorded in the context of the larger series with Lotto, which allowed the orchestra to examine Strauss's works and deepen its interpretation of them. This is why the members were chosen for this concert, and the performance here is highly anticipated. The amount of information brought out by Lotto's precise stick work is abundant, and the recording is excellent, making this a unique album to appreciate Strauss's large orchestral masterpieces.
