He studied under Thomas at the Paris Conservatory and, following his mentor’s death, served as director of the Paris Conservatory from 1896 to 1905. As a composer, he was prolific, with a diverse body of work spanning sacred music, opera, ballet, oratorio, instrumental music, orchestral works, concertos, and chamber music. He also authored works on music theory, such as *Counterpoint and Fugue* and *Harmony: Theory and Practice*. Dubois’s compositional style carries on the tradition of 19th-century French music, characterized by elegance, a refined sound, and clear, well-balanced structures. This album features a collection of concertos centered on cello and piano by Dubois, who has been gaining attention in recent years for his rich musicality. These works captivate listeners with their beautiful harmonies and technical demands that showcase the soloist’s virtuosity.
