Description:
Gaillard's New AlbumFrom Falla and Granados to Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, and moreMusical Journey to Spain, South America, and BrazilBossa Nova God, Tocchinho, joins us! Also featuring a splendid lineup of guest performers! Oféry Gaillard's latest release is a two-disc set that covers a wide range of music, from the folk-tinged works of Falla and Granados to South American works by Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, and others. No matter what the work, the elegance, style, and warmth of Gaillard's tone is always present, making this a very enjoyable set. Casado's works can also tend to be dry, but Gaillard strikes a perfect balance between sharpness and softness. The superb lineup of guest performers, including bossa nova god Tocchinho, is also noteworthy.Ofelie Gaillard is a cellist of growing stature, having won the 2014 Diapason d'Or of the Year for her previously released C.P.E. Bach concerto collection (AP.080), the third prize at the 1998 International Bach Competition in Leipzig, and the first prize at the International Competition with her self-founded Ensemble Amaryllis. He has won the third prize at the 1998 Leipzig International Bach Competition and has led the Ensemble Amaryllis, which he founded, to first prize at international competitions. He is a legitimate heir to the French cello school of Fournier, Torturier, and others. The intimate atmosphere of listening to her CDs with your eyes closed makes you feel as if she is playing for you alone, a charm that is hard to find anywhere else. The charm of Geyerl's music is also on full display in this disc of performances with a variety of orchestras. King International
