The Trio Dichter ("Trio of Poets"), which includes the brilliant French violinist de Swarte, has chosen for its first CD the works of Clara and Robert Schumann and their friends. For their first CD, they chose works by Clara and Robert Schumann and their friends. The strings are gut-stringed to match the sound of the Bösendorfer, giving the ensemble a softer, rounder tone. These include the Piano Trio No. 2, which Clara loved to play, "Notturno" (from Vienna's Musical Evenings), written when Robert told Clara of his love for her, and "Dedication," which Robert sent to Clara on their wedding eve. There is also a small prelude by Bach that Clara may have given to her pupil as a teaching aid, a work by Goede, whom Robert appreciated as much as Chopin, and a work by Kirchner, with whom Clara remained in close contact after Robert's death.The singer is Samuel Hasselhorn, who is on the rise, and the atmosphere is intimate and enthusiastic, as if one could imagine a group of historic musicians gathered in Schumann's house to perform and listen to each other's performance of a work that was just born at the time. All three graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where they studied with Claire Désert, Trio Vandaler, and others.
