What lyricism and passion Ridout performs in his rich viola arrangement of Elgar's "The Poet's Love," which has attracted a great deal of attention for its overflowing romance. His long-awaited new album is Elgar! The conductor is Brabbins, also from England, and the orchestra is the BBC Symphony Orchestra, so this is a performance by British players, and Elgar's dark but lyrical world is developed with rich passion. Elgar's Viola Concerto is an arrangement for viola of the Cello Concerto, which was realized at the behest of the 20th century British viola virtuoso Tartis. The arrangement was approved by the composer and premiered in 1930 with Elgar conducting and Turtis soloing, and was received more enthusiastically than the first performance of the cello concerto. Ridout further modified Turtis's arrangement, taking the work completely in hand. The coupling, Bloch, is a rarely performed piece with an oriental flavor, and again Ridhout's skillful singing is on full display. Timothy Ridaut was born in 1995 and studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music, where he won the 2014 Cecil Aronowitz International Competition and the 2016 Lionel Turtis International Viola Competition. He is one of the hottest young performers in the viola world and has performed with many orchestras. In June 2021, he appeared in the Transit Series at Oji Hall to great acclaim. King International
