Luby Sparks completes its second album "Search + Destroy", four years and three months after the release of "Luby Sparks" in January 2018.The Debut Album "Luby Sparks" released in January 2018 was heavily influenced by European and American guitar pop/shoegaze. The album was produced by Max Bloom (Yuck) and produced entirely in London by the band members, who were university students at the time, and was influenced by European and American guitar pop/shoegaze. In November of the same year, the band released "(I'm) Lost in Sadness," a collection of four songs with an aesthetic indie sound influenced by early 4AD/Goth; in 2019, they released the single "Somewhere," incorporating elements of ambient guitar and dream pop; Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie remix of the song was also produced.The band played its first live show in Shanghai at the end of 2019 and was scheduled to tour China extensively in 2020, but after a postponement and then cancellation due to the spread of the COVID 19 infection, they began work on their second album, Search + Destroy. Luby Sparks, who has undergone a dramatic transformation in the four years since his last album, and UK's Andy Savours, who has produced and engineered for My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Ros, Black Country, New Road, Rina Sawayama, and others, have been invited to co-produce the album. The album was carefully produced over the course of a year in 2021 with Andy Savours, who has produced and engineered for My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Ros, Black Country, New Road, and Rina Sawayama, as co-producer. Mastering was done by Guy Davie of Electric Mastering (UK), and cover art was done by Brooklyn artist Annika White, as on the "Luby Sparks" Debut Album.
