This is their 12th studio album, coming approximately three years after their previous release, *But Here We Are*, and marks the first album since new drummer Ilan Rubin (formerly of Nine Inch Nails) officially joined the band. The first single released in 2026, “Your Favorite Toy,” marks a departure from the heavy, grandiose Foo Fighters sound of recent years, showcasing a new direction with a punk-inspired sound that is raw in the best sense of the word and brimming with energy. In particular, Grohl’s vocals—shouted as if with irony—represent a style never heard before. Commenting on the release, Grohl said: “This song, ‘Your Favorite Toy,’ set the direction for the new album. We’ve been experimenting for years, trying to do something new, but when this song finally came together, we knew we had to go with this direction. It became the fuse that lit the powder keg of songs we ultimately recorded for this album.” Co-produced by the Foo Fighters and Oliver Roman, the new album was recorded at the band’s home studio and features 10 tracks, including the 2025 single “Asking for a Friend.”
