This release commemorates the bicentennial of Cesar Franck's birth. Elisabeth Franch was awarded the Rising Star Award at the 2013 Galway Flute Festival. She studied as a flutist in the Orchestre dell'Orchestre dell'Opera del Liceu and the Orchestra dell'Accademia della Scala with Gustavo Dudamel, Gianandrea Noseda, Fabio Luisi, and Sebastian Weigle, and since 2018 as principal flutist of the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra He returned to Europe in 2020 and has won numerous international awards, including the 27th World Music Competition Grand Prize (Austria), the Vienna New Year International Music Competition, the Anton Rubinschtein International Flute Competition (Berlin), and the Golden Classic Award in New York City. He has received numerous international awards, including the Golden Classical Award in New York. This album, Franci's debut for Sony Classical, is a tribute to the composer César Franck, who celebrated his bicentennial birthday this year.The first piece is the world premiere recording of "Violin Sonata No. 2," which was dedicated to Grieg's fellow composer Svendsen in 1867, just after his marriage, and arranged by Franci himself for flute ensemble. The "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" was written by Saint-Saens for Sarasate. The selection includes Franck's "Violin Sonata," which is now often performed on the flute, and finally, "Beloved," a song also composed by Franck. When playing the original compositions for violin on the flute, one has to consider the range and the treatment of the heavy notes, but Franch has found a new aesthetic quality that is different from the original. The piano is played by Alberto Guinobaldo, one of Spain's most talented pianists and composers as of 2018, who enhances each piece on the flute with a finely detailed beauty. Sony Music
