In contrast to her early work, which depicted the emotional turbulence of youthful romance, *Ricochet* delves deeply into time, death, and the fear of watching loved ones quietly slip through one’s fingers. The 11 tracks on this album are filled with introspection, anxiety, and acceptance. It is also about accepting the fact that, no matter what happens in one’s own small orbit, the world continues to turn. Written amidst intense personal changes—including a move from New York to North Carolina—*Ricochet* captures Lindsey confronting questions she had previously avoided: death, and what lies beyond. On this album, her sharp lyricism is layered with more expansive melodies, ornate string arrangements, and hypnotic textures, marking a natural evolution from the balanced guitar work of *Lush* and the raw emotional expression of *Valentine*. Sonically, *Ricochet* evokes the most glorious aspects of 1990s alternative rock.
