The Hard Quartet
Description:
Debut album by The Hard Quartet, a super band of legends including Stephen Malkmus of Pavement! The Hard Quartet features Stephen Malkmus of Pavement, a legendary band representing the US alternative and lo-fi scene that still enjoys unshakable popularity, Matt Sweeney, guitarist for Adele and a member of Zwan and Chavez, drummer/songwriter Jim White, a member of Dirty Three and Cat Power, and drummer/songwriter Ty White, a member of Dirty Three and Cat Power. The Hard Quartet has released their debut album "The Hard Quartet" on Matador, featuring drummer/songwriter Jim White, a member of the Dirty Three, and Emmett Kelly, who is known for his work with Ty Segall. The Hard Quartet released their debut album, "The Hard Quartet," on the Matador label. Not long after, the entire group looked back on those days with laughter, offering a glimpse into the freewheeling process of their proud new leaderless collaboration. The idea was first suggested by Sweeney over the phone to Malkmus in the early days of Pandemic," GQ (music media) wrote in a short profile article introducing the group. We collaborated in many ways and often ran into each other while on tour. After that, the idea of making music together under our own rules and independent of industry trends and standards was a no-brainer, a 'yes.'" Sweeney recalls the Hard Quartet's first week of collaboration with awe. In that time, they quickly produced an album's worth of songs, and the group had established an identity unlike any of their previous projects. This isn't a project, it's a band," Malkmus says emphatically. In addition to the CD and regular black vinyl, the import version will be available in a limited-quantity coke-bottle clear vinyl.
