Nigel Kennedy is regarded as one of the world's leading violin virtuosos and is the pride of England. He began studying violin at the age of six at Yehudi Menuhin's Conservatory, where he met jazz violinist Stefan Grappelli, who introduced him to jazz. He made his professional debut in 1977 at the Royal Festival Hall in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti.His performance of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," released by the former EMI in 1989, was so critically acclaimed for its advanced technique, singular talent, and innovative interpretation that it was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-selling classical work of all time, selling over 2 million copies. When I heard Vivaldi's Four Seasons for the first time, I thought, "What a boring piece of music. When I first heard Vivaldi's Four Seasons, I thought what a boring piece of music it was, because it was played in a way that made everyone yawn. When I was playing it at a concert in Spain, I suddenly realized that there was tremendous energy, beautiful melodies, and intense contrasts that flowed here. This song has everything to stamp me as a musician," Kennedy said. This album will be a kind of best-of album, featuring recordings and songs featured in the book, to celebrate the release of his autobiography "Uncensored" in the UK in the fall of 2021 (German edition to be published in the spring of 2022).As described in the book, these are performances in which various ideas about the violin as defined by Nigel Kennedy are discussed in a unique performance style, with CD1 featuring Bach and Vivaldi, CD2 featuring Romantic works, and CD3 featuring swing and jazz infused Nigel Kennedy's works and arrangements.
