Description:
All of the recordings are from Claudio Arrau's old EMI and unreleased recordings, as well as from Vocalion (UK), Vox (Germany), and BBC (live with Klemperer), all remastered in the latest 2022 box. A legendary pianist. His rigorous intellect and sublime sensibility find expression in his transcendent technique and sumptuous yet lucid sonorities. The recordings in this 24-CD collection are an important part of Arrau's legacy from 1921 to 1962 and an integral part of his extensive discography. Using the best available sources, either from the original master tapes in storage (if any) or from archival and other sources on 78 rpm SP, the 24bit/192kH remastering process at Art & Son Studio, Annecy, allows you to hear Arrau in his full glory The new album contains a number of new compositions, including "Beethoven's Beethoven". Among the recordings are "Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 30," "Chopin: Exercises Op. 10-4," and two pieces by Liszt, all of which are included for the first time on this disc. Claudio Arau was born in Chile in 1903 and rose to fame at a young age, achieving the highest achievements in both concerts and recordings until two years before his death in 1991 at the age of 88.During a career spanning eight decades, "Mr. Arau was acclaimed for his noble approach to the great works of the nineteenth century. His areas of expertise included the works of Liszt, which incorporated physical forces and philosophical insights, and Beethoven, whose sonatas and concertos were played to Apollonius' geometry, which many found poetic and authoritative. His Chopin, Schumann, and Debussy were also considered the basis of his interpretations with clarity throughout his long career," wrote the NewYorkTimes in its obituary. The recordings in this 24-CD collection, which represent an important part of Arrau's legacy, date back to the period from 1921 to 1962, or the first 40 years of his long career. In addition to the labels currently managed by Warner Classics [British Columbia, British Parlophone, German Electrola, and German Telefunken], additional important material has been added from British Vocalion (Arrau's first recording label), German Vox, and British BBC (live with Klemperer). (live with Klemperer) have also been added. These are an important and substantial complement to Arrau's recordings in the complete recordings released by Universal and Sony.Due to the nature of imported products, there may be cases where the products (including jackets, outer vinyl, outer boxes, cases, enclosures, etc.) may have minor scratches, folds, scuffs, dents, tears, stains, crushed corners, scratches on the disc surface not affecting playback, stains, image differences, individual differences, etc. at the time of arrival.
