Description:

Debut album by South African cellist Abel Selaokoh, with a unique sensibility and programmingLimited edition also available as a 180g analog LPSouth African cellist Abel Selaokoh is redefining the boundaries of performing as a cellist. He moves seamlessly between different genres and styles, from collaborations with international and genre-defying musicians and beatboxers (onomatopoeic sounds made by the mouth and nose) to concertos and solo classical recitals. In particular, they also combine classical masterpieces with improvisation, song, and body percussion, with a special interest in curating programs that highlight the connections between Western and non-Western musical traditions so that classical music can reach a more diverse range of listeners. in July 2018, the Royal She graduated as an international artist from the Northern College of Music. He has already performed extensively throughout the UK, including Cadogan Hall, Royal Albert Hall, The Sage Gateshead, and Bridge Water Hall.He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and has performed with orchestras throughout South Africa, including the KwaZulu-Natal, Johannesburg, and Cape Town Philharmonics. Abel is also an avid chamber musician and made his Wigmore Hall debut with composer Colin Matthews in 2013; he co-founded BBC Introducing and the ensemble Kabantu; in 2016, Chesaba, a trio dedicated to music from the African continent, including Abel's compositions and formed the trio Chesaba, which specializes in music from the African continent, including compositions by Abel. He has worked in close collaboration with musicians from a variety of genres, including Tim Garland, Sekou Keita, Giovanni Sollima, Gwilym Simcock, and the Twelve Ensemble. Most recently, the ensemble curated programs at the Kings Place Music Festival and the Oldborough & Oxford Chamber Music Festival, and performed at the BBC Proms. This debut album combines Baroque music (J.S. Bach, Giovanni Pratti), his own compositions, and South African hymns.Although educated as a modern cellist, he definitely transcends genres, being well versed in baroque techniques and even incorporating a completely different type of African music. He is sure to be talked about as a charismatic star who is creating new ways to enjoy music. On track 1, Abel's own composition "Ibuyile I'Africa / Africa is back," Yo-Yo Ma, who appreciates Abel, joins him remotely from Boston. For "Platti: Cello Sonata," Abel uses a baroque bow, a double bass and theorbo for bass passages, and an African instrument, the kora (a kind of African harp). And various unique music is played, such as fantastic hymns composed by Seraokoh and drumming that evokes African passion. *Because this is an imported product, the product (including the jacket, outer vinyl, outer box, case, and enclosures) may have minor scratches, folds, scuffs, dents, tears, stains, crushed corners, scratches on the disc surface that do not affect playback, dirt, image differences, individual differences, etc. Warner Music Japan
