Description:
100th anniversary of his birth and 5th anniversary of his deathThree masterpieces by Czech-born naturalized American composer Karel Husa, who studied under Honegger and N. Boulanger! This year (2021) marks the 100th anniversary of the birth and 5th anniversary of the death of Prague-born, naturalized American composer Karel Husa (1921-2016). This recording commemorates this occasion with three pieces: Symphony No. 2 "Reflections," "Three Frescoes," and "Music for Prague 1968. The pieces depicting Husa's heart for his distant homeland are truly moving. Husa studied composition in Paris under Honegger and N. Boulanger, and conducting under Cluytens, and became an American citizen in 1959. The original of "Music for Prague 1968" was a wind band piece, but George Szell commissioned the composer himself to orchestrate it. It is known as Husa's most popular work, and is the most performed work in the world today. The Prague Symphony Orchestra led by Tomáš Brauner gives a truly passionate performance. King International
