Three consecutive BBC Music Magazine Awards (Dutilleux: Ballet "Wolf" [RCHSA5263/CHSA5263], Respighi: Roman Trilogy [RCHSA5261/CHSA5261], Korngold: Symphony in F-sharp F sharp" [RCHSA5220/CHSA5220]), the 2022 Recording Academy Award for Orchestral Music ("Ravel: Orchestral Works" [RCHSA5280/CHSA5280]), and the worldwide acclaim for his first concert at the BBC Proms in 2021. Wilson and his reunited "Sinfonia of London" are now back with "Works for Strings"! The main work on this album is "Fantasy on a Theme by Thomas Tallis," one of the most famous works for string orchestra in England. Its composition consists of three groups of two string orchestras of different sizes and a string quartet.Elgar's "Introduction and Allegro," Op.47, also recorded at the same time, is in the form of an ensemble concerto with string quartet and string orchestra, allowing the listener to enjoy the contrast between the individual instruments and the string orchestra.
