Following Saint-Saens (CHSA5104) and Chabrier (CHSA5122), the new release in the "French Repertoire" series is a collection of orchestral works by the 19th century French opera writer, Jules Massenet (1842-1912)! Massenet is known for composing many operas such as "Thais", "Manon", "Werther", and "Thais Meditation". Nämme Järvi's sharp tact will introduce the little-known orchestral works of Massenet, who has rarely been in the spotlight other than in his operas.Expect a combination of the prestigious Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, of which Järvi became music director in 2012, and the famous Norwegian cellist Tors Mørk, who gave a fine performance in Svensen's cello concerto.
