Brad Meldor, the #1 pianist on the jazz scene today and one of the most influential jazz pianists of our time, released "SEYMOUR READS THE CONSTITUTION!" in 2018, which includes jazz numbers, covers of standard numbers, and new compositions by the trio with Larry Grenadier (b) and Jeff Ballard (dr). In 2018, the trio released "SEYMOUR READS THE CONSTITUTION!", an innovative work that presents a unique sensibility and interpretation of the great father of music, Bach's "improvisation" side as a great master, and in 2017, "AFTER BACH", an innovative work that presents a unique sensibility and interpretation of the great father of music, Bach's "improvisation" side as a great master, and in 2017, the trio released "AFTER BACH". In 2017, he released "CHRIS THILE & BRAD MEHLDAU", a supreme album of musical sparks with his labelmate Chris Seeley of the Punch Brothers, and he has already completed his latest work as he continues to release various works in a way of expression that transcends composition/genre! Inspired by the Bible, this latest album is titled "FINDING GABRIEL" after the archangel Gabriel, who appears in the Old Testament book of Daniel and is also depicted in Leonardo da Vinci's "Annunciation". I came up with the title after reading the Bible closely over the past few years. I have been reading the Bible closely over the past few years and came up with this title after reading the prophetic passages in Daniel and Hosea that really resonated with me. I felt as if the Bible was the inevitable outcome and a guidepost for modern life.Finding its figure in the chaos, reaching out to hear its voice... This latest work, titled "TAMING THE DRAGON", is produced with the brilliant drummer Mark Juliana, with whom the band has been working together for the first time in five years since "TAMING THE DRAGON" was released in 2014. TAMING THE DRAGON. The music is built from his drums and the OB-6 synthesizer developed by Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim, and then layered with human chorus, piano, percussion, and other sounds to create "FINDING GABRIEL," a truly epic spectacle. The result is a diverse sound world that could be described as a grand spectacle. The breadth of the sound world can be seen by listening to the song "The Garden". The chorus parts by Becca Stevens, Kurt Emling, Gabriel Kahane, and Meldor himself are an important part of the album as a pure way to weave harmony and emotion into the music. Also noteworthy is the orchestration, which gives the album an even more grandiose feel. The rousing performances by Ambrose Akinmusire (tp), Joel Frahm (ts), and Sarah Caswell (vln) are also brilliant.
