Peter and the Wolf is a fantasy written for children. It is a delightful work that uses light motifs to convey a simple way of listening to music. Therefore, this DVD is not just for children, but should be enjoyed by adults as well. This work often features a variety of guests as narrators, and here we have Sting. In addition, the Italian version was dubbed by Oscar-winning actor Roberto Benigni. The story is told by regular actors, costumed actors, and Muppets. The Muppets, made to look exactly like Abbado and Sting, are a delight. Puppet theater has a long history in Europe, just as Bunraku has in Japan, and it is still a well-established art form with daily performances in dedicated theaters.DG released "Mozart 22" this year, a recording of last year's Salzburg Festival, which includes the opera "The Theater Manager" recorded at the Theater Marionnette there, which is also highly recommended.
