Herbert Blomstedt, who will celebrate his 95th birthday on July 11, 2022, will conduct the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, for which he served as Kapellmeister from 1998 to 2005 and is currently Honorary Conductor. Masterpiece Symphony. Blomstedt holds honorary posts with the San Francisco Symphony, Bamberg Symphony, Danish Radio Symphony, Swedish Radio Symphony, Staatskapelle Dresden, and others, and is a frequent guest with world-class orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic. He is also a frequent guest with the world's top orchestras, including the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic. In Japan, Blomstedt has been the Honorary Conductor laureate of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, where he has been a frequent guest conductor since 1981, and is one of the most popular conductors in Japan. He has recorded one disc of works by Sandström and Lidholm with the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Deutsche Grammophon's Contemporary Music Series 20/21 in 2003, but it is safe to say that this is in fact his debut with Deutsche Grammophon.
