Cecilia Bartoli introduces a young talent! The previous release featured Mexican tenor Javier Camarena, and this release presents exciting singing by a mezzo-soprano from Armenia. Vardui Abrahamyan is a mezzo-soprano from a musical family in Armenia who studied at the French school. She recently performed with Celilia Bartoli in "Alcina" and is scheduled to make her MET debut in the title role of "Carmen. The album also includes a duet with Bartoli (track 2) and a piece with the duduk, a folk instrument from her native Armenia (track 10). It will be released in conjunction with the Salzburg Pentecostal Music Festival, which will feature Pauline Viardot. Pauline Viardot (1821-1910) was a brilliant singer, pianist, and composer from the famous Garcia family of Spanish music.This amazingly talented family, whose sister is the famous vocalist Maria Malibran (featured on the album "Maria" by Celilia Bartoli) and whose father is the legendary tenor Manuel Garcia (featured on the album "Contrabandista" by Javier Camarena), has influenced European culture. Pauline also played a role in the success of her fellow musicians, painters, and writers, and was admired by such musicians as Saint-Saëns, Chopin, and Clara Schumann.
