Magdalena Kožená, one of the world's greatest singers, sings Bartók's "Village Scene", Mussorgsky's "The Children's Room", and Brahms' songs in the third album on the PENTATONE label, titled "Nostalgia". Co-performed by the masterful Yefim Bronfman! Sung in Slovak, Russian, and German, these songs are about love, longing, and innocence, and each of the three great composers presents their own unique style of folk music. Kozener and Bronfman have been performing together since 2002, with Kozener lovingly weaving music with his breathtaking partner, and Bronfman demonstrating his exceptional vocal ability to the fullest. The result is a nostalgia that will resonate in the hearts of the listeners. When I first performed with Magdalena Kozener in Verbier in 2002, I was completely captivated by her voice, her expressiveness, and her unique way of entering into the music.I have wanted to work with her ever since, and thankfully I have had the opportunity to perform with her on tours in the U.S. and Europe, which has given me a new world as a performer. I have also had the opportunity to experience repertoire that I had never experienced before, such as the Brahms, Mussorgsky, and Bartók pieces on this album.
