The late 18th century Italian composer Luigi Boccherini left behind a vast body of works, many of them chamber music, some of which feature the flute. Australian flutist Sally Walker, who first appeared on Avie with harpist Emily Grainger on a collaborative album (AV2626), now takes the lead role, delving deeply into the origins of Boccherini's flute works and presenting them in a beautifully refined, elegant and technical 90-minute performance that is as elegant as it is technical. The result is a beautifully refined 90-minute double album. The relatively rare but imaginative "Six Quintets, Op. 19" is a well-crafted composition that ranges from intimate to orchestral grandeur. Furthermore, the first "Divertimento Notturno" from the Sextet, Op.38, is also included. And as a bonus track, the Quintet G.433, which is attributed to Boccherini, is also added. This is a work that Sally Walker says she wanted to include anyway because it is "so beautiful," even though the true author is debatable. Tokyo M-Plus
