Mahler (1860-1911)

Description:

Gilbert Kaplan, expert on "Resurrection." The new "Resurrection" for the world! Gilbert Kaplan, a Gustav Mahler scholar and conductor specializing in the Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection", will present his third "Resurrection", following "Resurrection" with the London Symphony Orchestra in 1988 and "Resurrection" with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 2002, in a live recording of the world premiere of the "Resurrection" at the Vienna Konzerthaus in February 2013. The third "Resurrection" is a live recording of the world premiere of the "small ensemble version" at the Konzerthaus in Vienna in February 2013 (world premiere recording, of course!). The "Resurrection" was recorded live at the Vienna Konzerthaus in February 2013. In this "arrangement for small orchestra (chamber orchestra)" by Kaplan and Rob Matisse, "Resurrection," which is usually performed by an orchestra of over 100 musicians, has been reduced to only 56, about half the number of musicians. While greatly reducing the number of players, the arrangement remains faithful to Mahler's musical intentions and colors, and is designed to provide a wider opportunity for the charm of "Resurrection," which changed Caplan's life. The 1988 disc, which sold nearly 200,000 copies worldwide, is considered "the best-selling Mahler disc in the history of Mahler recordings," and the 2002 disc, which is a "critical edition" of the "Resurrection," revised from scratch at the composer's own expense and authorized by the International Mahler Society, is now being released in full force. This "small edition" is sure to be big news in 2014. Tokyo M-Plus
