BiancaChandon’s 3-member unit! An homage to Daft Punk’s “Robot Rock”! Following BiancaChandonpresents&Co.’s “Best Of Friends”—considered an iconic release in 2010s underground house—&Co.’s third EP is being released on the QUIETVILLAGE label!!!! &Co. is a project featuring BiancaChandon founder Alex Olson, pianist and composer Alberto Bof (who also contributed to the film *A Star Is Born*), and LA street culture icon Paul Takahashi. Produced as a sequel to the classic “Best Friends,” “Staycation” was created through repeated short studio sessions of about an hour each, centered around brainstorming and refining ideas. Alberto Bof and Paul Takahashi continued to polish the tracks in Alex Olson’s absence, sharing the progress with Alberto Bof as they worked toward completion. During production, the track was shared with only a select few as a promo; after further updates and refinements, it was mastered and released as this album. Mastering was handled by JV (Justin Van Der Volgen), and it is said that the official release came about thanks to JV’s advice. The release also featured the collaboration of Eric Duncan from RubNTug and was handled by Matt Edwards (RadioSlave), leading to its current release. Side A, “Lean Like a Cello,” is a hard-hitting, thick, gothic-style electro-disco track that evokes the East Coast and West Coast underground disco/house scenes. It features a section that seems to sample the bassline from Daft Punk’s “Robot Rock,” giving it a sound that’s exactly the kind Harvey would play. Side B, “Liquor Run,” is a complete contrast: a hypnotic synth track with a slowly building machine house beat—a killer floor-ready track!
