THEREDS, PINKS & PURPLES is a DIY kitchen pop project led by GLENNDONALDSON, a singer-songwriter, photographer, and record collector from San Francisco (other bands: THE IVY TREE, SKY GREEN LEOPARDS, ART MUSEUMS, PAINTED SHRINE). They have toured with DESTROYER, GUIDED BY VOICES, and THE FEELIES, and have performed at numerous festivals including PITCHFORK LONDON and WOODSISTFEST. Having written over 200 songs in just six years and released nine albums to date, GLENNDONALDSON has relentlessly established his own world through songwriting characterized by emotional clarity and a unique, romantic sensibility. "ACKNOWLEDGEKINDNESS" represents a further evolution of THE REDS, PINKS & PURPLES’ signature emotional pop. Evolving from the melancholic sound of his previous work, which was steeped in sadness, the mood of this album exudes an even more introspective atmosphere. Looking back on the past and confronting moments that once caused him pain, GLENNDONALDSON says of this album, “It’s a work about learning to live with my own ghosts and trying to live in the present. "I want to make records with a grand sound, like AMERICAN MUSIC CLUB’s ‘CALIFORNIA’ or THE GO-BETWEENS’ ‘16-LOVER’S LANE.’ It’s about charging headlong into pain while inviting the listener into another world," he says. GLENNDONALDSON’s whispering, tender voice and the carefully woven sounds of the acoustic guitar penetrate deeply, gently caressing the wounds hidden in the depths of the heart. It is a work that is both original and overflowing with emotion, enveloping every listener.
